A Legend in the Badlands
A historic saloon, a place to gather, and an experience you won’t forget.

More Than Just a Saloon
Established in 1913, the Rosedeer Hotel was built in the booming coal mine era, by the Rosedeer Coal Mning Company. Nestled in the ghost town of Wayne (where now only 28 people reside) this historic destination truly speaks to when the west was won.

Stories from the “Bucket of Blood”
Once referred to as the “Bucket of Blood” because of the fights the miners got into. There is no shortage of stories and artifacts to keep you coming back for more. Ask your server to see the bullet holes on the saloon wall!

The Birth of the Last Chance Saloon
As the population grew, the Rosedeer Coal Mining Company opened the Last Chance Saloon, to occupy patrons and served over 250 workers per day. After winning the rights to the business in a poker game, the Dayman family took over the saloon and ran it for another 65 years (it has only had three owners over the last century).

The Saloon Today
Today the Last Chance Saloon is owned and operated by Dave Arsenault and Paula Sutherland who’ve added soul to the saloon by incorporating a smokehouse with signature in-house smoked meat, a vintage hotel featuring seven themed rooms, dog-friendly patio, and an annual music festival that stands as a reminder that it takes a village to create memories that last a lifetime.
Their son Jhett Douglass, grew up in the thick of it all learning the ropes, sharing in the stories, and feeling the magic that makes the saloon so special. One day, when Dave and Paula hang up their hats, Jhett will be there to carry the torch, keeping the spirit of the Last Chance saloon alive for years to come.
