Layne Syvertsen is an experienced guitar player, and singer/songwriter with music influences from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Guy.

Live music with the Local Group

Taking their name from the cluster of galaxies containing the Milky Way, the Local Group plays music of astronomical proportions. With roots in rural Saskatchewan and Australia, this young Saskatoon-based quartet puts their own unique spin on hard-driving traditional bluegrass, also taking influence from Celtic, classic country, and Canadiana. Featuring hot banjo, mandolin and guitar picking, tight 3-part harmonies, and a mixed bag of instruments including double bass, fiddle, harmonica, penny whistle and triangle, their show will take you out of this world on a rocket fueled by pure folk music.

Double Bill: Live music with Misery Mountain Boys and Maddie Storvold

Misery Mountain Boys … Paying homage to the Prohibition era practice of transporting liquor in milk bottles, their song “Milk & Moonshine” is an embodiment of simplicity and romantic abandon. Moving organically from jazzy shuffles, to upbeat jump blues.
Maddie Storvold has been travelling and playing music all over the world, and is now an enthusiastic member of the local music scene. With emotive finger picking, and a honeyed, impassioned voice, her music seeks to tell a story, and to touch a fragile part of the human spirit.

With action and adventure in mind, Vancouver-based western swing band Petunia and the Vipers are coming to Wayne.
Including sounds ranging from country to charmingly chaotic, kazoo playing and yodelling guitarist Petunia, whose real name is unknown, said if his live show has any purposeful aim, it is to take listeners on a musical journey that pushes through the barrier of what is expected.
“We springboard from traditional roots into uncharted waters sometimes,” said Petunia. “I try to make the show as fun as possible.”
